The Volunteer Work

I was a member of Charity Volunteers last year and I tried to participate in the every week’s. Although I spent just two months on those, the each activity is very clear in my mind. In the school, we were required to do 10 hours’ volunteer work, so I attended 5 times’ Charity volunteers’ activities.

In the Charity Volunteers, I was assigned the task of teaching the primary school students’ English, Chinese and Math. Teaching the little students was very tired, because they always had a lot of outlandish ideas and we had to make them paying their attention to us. At the beginning, we thought they were very act up. But after a period of time, we found that was not true.

I always went to there with several students in Grade 10 to 12. The first time we saw the little students, they were very welcoming us. There was a lovely boy who always laughed at a Grade 12 student and we didn’t know why. Maybe the boy thinked it was funny. To return to my muttons, we started to assign work. I was in charge of teaching the lovely boy whom I just mentioned. Teaching the students looks very easy, however, it is not easy. The little boy always imagined something, and never wanted to study hard. So, I told the boy that we could learned for thirty minutes and had a rest for 10 minutes. He agreed with me. After that, in each class we cooperated well. I taught the boy a lot of new words and some simple sentences forms in English. He was very smart and remembered them quickly. In Chinese, I told him the difficult Chinese characters and taught him how to recite the poems. In Math, I just helped him to solve the problem which he didn’t understand. We often played some little games with other GCA’s friends and little students in the rest time. We were very happy.

Through these activities, I realize a lot of things. I understand that cooperation is very important. In these activities, we need to cooperate with our friends and students because many things need our collective force to finish. During this process, I feel that teaching students is very tired and cost my energy and even patience. But after these two months’ activities, I understand that this process let me gain a lot of educations. I clear about many things .Also, I begin to know that we should do our utmost to do everything. During this process, I really show my skills required to work effectively and safely with others and to succeed as individual and collaborative workers.

Through this process, I learn much knowledge that we cannot learn from our textbook. I believe that teaching the little students is good for me and also good for the community!
